Military service term in Armenia to be reduced starting January 1

Mandatory military service in Armenia will be shortened starting January 1, 2026, Prime Minister Nikol Pashinyan announced in a video address.

According to him, starting with the winter draft of 2026, the service term will be reduced from two years to one and a half years.

The initiative to shorten the term was proposed by Armenia’s Defense Ministry.
