Armenia may consider the issue of the continuation of the Minsk process first of all in the context of signing a peace treaty, the Armenian Foreign Ministry said in response to the RFE/RL’s inquiry.
Azerbaijan demanded that Armenia change its Constitution and that the two countries should jointly dissolve the OSCE Minsk Group in order to sign the peace agreement. Aliyev also stated that Armenia does not agree to the dissolution of the Minsk Group.
RFE/RL’s Armenian service asked the Foreign Ministry whether Azerbaijan makes the dissolution of the Minsk Group a prerequisite for signing a peace treaty, why Yerevan does not agree to the dissolution, and whether it is possible that Armenia will change its mind in the near future and submit a joint application for dissolution to the OSCE.
The Armenian Foreign Ministry answered these questions with one sentence: “The Armenian side may consider the issue of the continuation of the Minsk process in the context of the comprehensive normalization of relations and, first of all, the conclusion of a peace treaty.”
