Indian director Tarsem Singh, best known for his Hollywood projects and collaborations with foreign artists, recently visited Armenia.

Tarsem’s hit movie projects include The Cell (2000) with Jennifer Lopez, The Fall (2006), Immortals (2011), and Mirror Mirror (2012), starring Julia Roberts and Lily Collins.

Tarsem is also known for directing music videos, the most notable of which is Lady Gaga’s Parajan-inspired “911”.

The director came to Armenia at the invitation of AVA Films Production and Boomerang Media to star in a documentary dedicated to the 100th anniversary of Sergei Parajanov.

Armenian producer and actor Arman Nshanian posted a photo with Tarsem on Instagram, thanking him for being a part of an important project about Sergei Parajanov.

“Tarsem is a big fan of Parajanov, and since Lady Gaga’s famous music video was also inspired by him, it was decided that he should also tell about Parajanov along with a number of talented filmmakers,” Arman said. “The filming took place in Armenia. He also expressed his desire to visit the historical and cultural places that shocked him. He had a great time here and will come here again, this time in the summer.”

According to Nshanian, he and Tarsem already have an agreement on another project: “It will be a historical movie, which we have been talking about for a long time. He is very interested in directing this movie. We’re in the preliminary talks now.”
