Mother See of Holy Etchmiadzin condemns violence against Armenian community of Jerusalem

The Mother See of Holy Etchmiadzin condemns the violence against the Armenian Patriarchate and the Armenian community of Jerusalem, the press center of the Mother See reports.

“We have learned with deep concern about the ongoing provocative actions around the Cows’ Garden estate belonging to the Armenian Patriarchate of Jerusalem.

On December 28, more than three dozen armed men invaded the territory of the Cows’ Garden and committed violent acts that resulted in injuries to the clergy of the Patriarchate and members of the local Armenian community.

It is obvious that the provocateurs were once again trying to appropriate the Cows’ Garden through terror, threats and violence, violating the procedures established by law.

Strongly condemning the incident, we express the hope that the Israeli authorities will respond in accordance with the law to the criminal acts committed against the Patriarchate and the Armenian community, and the perpetrators will be held accountable, with the recurrence of such cases being excluded,” the statement says.
