Mother See of Holy Etchmiadzin has never been and can never be platform for campaigning by any political force – Yesayi Artenyan

Vahe Aleksanyan, a member of the ruling party, regularly makes harsh and entirely unfounded accusations against the Mother See of Holy Etchmiadzin, the Catholicos of All Armenians, and senior church officials. This was stated by Father Yesayi Artenyan, Director of the Information Service of Holy Etchmiadzin, in a post on Facebook.

“Recently, this individual made yet another slanderous and offensive statement, claiming that in 2021, logos of the ‘Armenia’ political bloc were allegedly displayed in the Mother See, even comparing them to icons. These claims are completely false. Holy Etchmiadzin has never been and cannot be a campaigning platform for any political force. Such degrading remarks about sacred places are not only political speculation but also a deep insult to the spiritual and sacred feelings of the faithful. We strongly condemn the disgraceful statements made by the MP and call on politicians to refrain from attacking the Church,” he wrote.
