Mother See of Holy Etchmiadzin ready to support initiatives on studying documents of Armenian Genocide – Catholicos Karekin II

On December 10, Catholicos of All Armenians Karekin II received German historian Michael Hesemann at the Mother See of Holy Etchmiadzin. Hesemann arrived in Armenia to participate in the international conference “Genocide: Memory, Recognition, Prevention.” The meeting was also attended by Bishop Serovbe Isakhanyan, head of the Armenian Diocese of Germany.

His Holiness welcomed Michael Hesemann’s visit to the spiritual center of all Armenians and commended his scholarly contribution, stressing that the Mother See is ready to support initiatives aimed at studying documents on the Armenian Genocide, promoting Christian heritage, and spreading spiritual values. The Catholicos also invited Hesemann to deliver lectures to the brotherhood of the Mother See and to students of spiritual-educational institutions.

The German historian expressed satisfaction at the opportunity to visit Armenia and declared his readiness to return and give lectures in the academic and educational structures of the Mother See of Holy Etchmiadzin. The sides further discussed the importance of religious freedom and dialogue in the modern world, the need for universal cooperation and joint efforts for the common good, and the building of a peaceful and just world.
