MP says batch of Russian weapons already in Armenia

A batch of Russian weapons is already in Armenia, Gagik Melkonyan, Member of the Defense Committee of the Armenian National Assembly, told RFE/RL’s Armenian Service.

According to Melkonyan, the batch was transferred to Armenia within the framework of the contract signed earlier with Russia.

Earlier, when asked whether Armenia receives the Russian weapons that were ordered, Andranik Kocharyan, Chair of the Defense Committee of the National Assembly, replied, “Yes, to some extent.”

“They are giving something, not in the amount that we expect—the quantity mentioned in the contract we signed, but I am sure it will be settled eventually,” Kocharyan said.
