Yerevan will host the premiere of the grand circus show ETERNIA at the new venue, Tashir Arena. One of the key creators of the project is composer Valery Tolstov. In an interview with Alpha News, he spoke about his work on the musical component of the production, sources of inspiration, and the technical features of the venue.
“Work on the show took about a year. It was a very complex task. The show is multilayered, with numerous acts, stunts, and characters. All of this must be reflected in the music. The music has to highlight emotions, the storyline, and the personality of each character,” Tolstov said.
The composer admits that Armenian culture had a profound influence on him, “First of all, I was born here. That means I’ve already absorbed part of the Armenian musical and spiritual tradition. Historical events leave traces in our genetic memory and shape our mindset and creativity. Every Armenian musician is inspired by our classics—Khachaturian, Komitas, Spendiarov. My task was to give the show an Armenian character, to find a balance between tradition and modern trends. I believe we succeeded.”
Tolstov also underscored the importance of working with local performers, “We all come from childhood. As children, we dreamed of entering a world of magic. Now those dreams are coming true here at Tashir Arena. It is a magnificent venue with multimedia design, lighting, sound. And of course, incredible circus artists performing mind-blowing stunts. It feels like gravity doesn’t apply.”
He stressed that composing music for such a project is a great responsibility, “This is an important event not only for the country’s cultural life, but especially for Armenia. We know that the circus has been absent for several decades. I’m proud to be part of its return.”
In conclusion, the composer shared his thoughts on the venue, “I believe it’s not just ready—it’s perfectly suited for concerts and events of any format. The circus is built like a Greek amphitheater. No matter where you sit, the acoustics and visibility are excellent. It’s a wonderful place that will become a hub of the city’s musical life.”
The ETERNIA show will take place at Tashir Arena in Yerevan. This event marks a significant milestone in the city’s cultural life, blending music, circus artistry, and modern technology. Organizers invite audiences of all ages to step into a world of magic—now available in a new format.
