New charges brought against Samvel Karapetyan – Investigative Committee

The charges against philanthropist and businessman Samvel Karapetyan have been revised, the Investigative Committee told Sputnik Armenia.

Karapetyan had previously faced two charges: public calls for the seizure of power and money laundering. Today, his legal team announced that a new economically related charge has been brought against him.

“The previous charge of money laundering has been amended. It now includes clauses 2 and 3 of Part 3, Article 296 of the Criminal Code (legalization [laundering] of criminally obtained income in especially large amounts, using official or professional authority or influence derived from such authority),” the Investigative Committee said.
