There were no secret negotiations in Yevlakh and no documents were signed, Davit Melkumyan, head of the Artsakh Democratic Party faction of the Artsakh National Assembly, told Alpha News.

“The negotiations were held in three rounds. After the first, I met daily with our population, which was in Stepanakert at the time. I told our population about everything that was happening and explained it word for word. Moreover, recently there have been rumors that closed and secret negotiations were held in Yevlakh, these were false speculations. The main issues that we considered and discussed were social, humanitarian and security-related. As they noted, issues of integration were raised on their part,” he said.

According to him, an important achievement of the Armenian side was that people who found themselves in the blockade were able to escape safely.

“One of our primary goals was to ensure that all people in the blockade were taken out safe and sound, and I do not recall a single case where anyone was hurt. This should be noted as a success. In those days, there was no bread, no water, no electricity. One of the key points was the opening of interstate roads, the delivery of humanitarian aid, the restoration of gas and electricity. No documents were signed in Yevlakh. Our delegation was not authorized to sign such documents,” Davit Melkumyan concluded.
