There is no progress in opening the Armenian-Turkish border, the Armenian Foreign Ministry responded to Sputnik Armenia’s inquiry.

The agency asked the Foreign Ministry for information regarding the status of the project to restore the Ani Bridge on the border of the two countries, as well as updates on efforts to reopen the Akhurik-Akyak railway crossing.

“The Foreign Ministry will inform the society about the developments regarding the Armenia-Turkey normalization in due time,” the statement reads.

It should be noted that the Margara checkpoint, where Armenian authorities recently organized a tour for Turkish journalists, remains inactive. Yerevan and Ankara agreed to open it for third-country nationals and diplomatic passport holders back in 2022, but the checkpoint is still closed.
