Deputy Speaker of the Azerbaijani Parliament Ziyafet Asgarov believes that the process of signing a peace agreement between Yerevan and Baku was delayed under pressure from the administration of US President Joe Biden.

“As of today, 15 of the 17 points of the peace deal have been agreed upon. One of them concerns the opening of the Zangezur corridor,” he said, adding that the second non-agreed point is the amendment to the Armenian constitution, which “contains territorial claims against Azerbaijan.”

“Their Declaration of Independence states that Nagorno-Karabakh belongs to Armenia. However, the Armenian authorities have already announced the development of a new constitution. Nikol Pashinyan also acknowledged that previous amendments to the constitution cannot be considered legitimate. We want to sign an agreement not with the Prime Minister, but with the state of Armenia,” Asgarov said.
