Norayr Poghosyan: Targeting the Armenian Apostolic Church is part of the agenda of Azerbaijan and Turkiye

Azerbaijan and Turkiye constantly attack the Armenian church and the Armenian diaspora, Norayr Poghosyan, an employee of the Western Diocesan Headquarters of the Armenian Apostolic Church, told Alpha News.
“Azerbaijan and Turkiye constantly state that the Armenian diaspora interferes and does not allow relations with Armenia to develop as usual. Such statements are not something unexpected, as they are part of their agenda. The diaspora has its own demands, regardless of the position of the Armenian government. And it is no coincidence that the Armenian church is the target,” Poghosyan said.
Norayr Poghosyan also touched upon the problem around the Cows’ Garden in Jerusalem.
“I am in touch with our friends in Jerusalem every day. Unfortunately, the secular presence there has become small, but the clergy maintains its position and does not make any concessions in the matter of preserving shrines. The fight continues. We know only the beginning and end of any event, but in the middle, everything can be changed. Nothing is predetermined.
Our people have been fighting since the very first day they were born, but unlike our compatriots living in Armenia, our Order of Jerusalem has achieved brilliant results in the fight,” Poghosyan concluded.
