The Armenian Revolutionary Federation (ARF) will hold a large-scale unity rally titled “Return” on Freedom Square on September 2, marking the 34th anniversary of the independence of the Republic of Artsakh.
In an interview with Alpha News, Ishkhan Saghatelyan, representative of the ARF Supreme Body and member of the “Armenia” faction in the National Assembly, presented the rally’s main messages.
“First of all, the Karabakh conflict has not been resolved, no matter how much they try to impose it on us or present it to us. We have the issue of returning the Armenians of Artsakh to their homes, which cannot be ignored or closed. Secondly, we will demand the return of the Armenian prisoners held in Baku. The main focus will be on this issue, and there will also be speeches on Armenia’s security, and we will express our position. In general, this will be a message to the whole world, including the puppet government of Armenia, that it is impossible to sign documents that violate the rights of the Armenian people through betrayal, use of force, and threats and present them as a peace and reconciliation treaty. The issue of Artsakh is not closed through genocide and ethnic cleansing, and thus peace is not achieved,” Saghatelyan said.
The ARF member said that if Nikol Pashinyan remains in power, he will try to close the page of Armenia as well.
“The desire to close the Artsakh page is a joint initiative of Erdogan, Aliyev, and Pashinyan, which they are trying to impose on our people, and we must not allow this to happen. They are trying to intimidate the people with threats of war, saying that if we do not allow it, there will be a war, but it is precisely these concessions that will lead to a new war. The obligations that he is imposing on the Republic of Armenia will eventually lead to a large-scale new war, or at least to major new concessions. Today, Aliyev said that the documents signed by Nikol Pashinyan are signed on behalf of the Republic of Armenia. This is a very direct message: regardless of who signed them, if the documents come into force, anyone who comes after will have to answer for this signature. The goal is to intimidate people and push us toward an irreversible path,” Saghatelyan said.
