The Russian Foreign Ministry commented on the obligations to Armenia within the CSTO.

“Obligations to Armenia within the CSTO remain unchanged,” Mikael Aghasandyan, Director of the Russian Foreign Ministry’s First Department of CIS countries, told RIA Novosti.

Speaking about Armenia’s participation in the overall work of the CSTO, he noted that now Armenia is moving away from this cooperation.

“This position, as we see it, contradicts the interests of the Armenian people and significantly weakens national security. Ultimately, there are no other alternatives to the CSTO and Russia that guarantee the republic’s stability,” Aghasandyan said, noting that mutual obligations within the framework of the organization remain unchanged.
