Oldest participant in Turkmenistan Chess Championship is 72-year-old Karen Grigoryan

Ashgabat has kicked off the country’s premier chess event of the year—the Higher League of the Turkmenistan Championship—which will run until February 11.

Among the contenders is IM Karen Grigoryan, who at 72 not only continues to compete for the chess crown but also holds the distinction of being the tournament’s most senior player.
