The Armenian National Committee of America (ANCA) is working directly with the White House and the US Congress to secure the release of Armenian prisoners of war, hostages, and leaders of Artsakh, ANCA Communications Director Elizabeth Chouldjian told Alpha News.

“Last week, a bill revising sanctions against Azerbaijan was introduced. We also sent a letter to Secretary of State Rubio asking him to demand the release of Armenian prisoners, establish international oversight of sham trials, and impose sanctions against the Aliyev regime. Our upcoming work is aimed at ensuring that all of these efforts become law and the foundation of American policy,” she emphasized.

Commenting on Turkish President Recep Tayyip Erdogan’s planned visit to the White House on October 25, Chouldjian emphasized that the visit should focus on expanding military cooperation between the US and Turkey.

“The Armenian National Committee of America, together with its Greek and Kurdish partners, will oppose the expansion of military cooperation between Ankara and Washington. Last week, the House Foreign Affairs Committee passed an ANCA-backed motion requiring the State Department to prepare a report on cooperation with Turkey. Furthermore, if Erdogan raises issues related to the South Caucasus during his visit to the United States, it would be harmful to Armenia and supportive of Azerbaijan’s genocidal plans,” Chouldjian noted.
