Fifty-seven YSU professors have released a statement demanding the resignation of Prime Minister Nikol Pashinyan.
“The process of ‘delimitation’ at this stage is completely unlawful, as it takes place not only in full compliance with Azerbaijan’s agenda but also under its clear military and political pressure. Interstate agreements are initially invalid under such conditions. World practice shows that neighboring states should first establish diplomatic relations and only then proceed to final border adjustments, which are currently being carried out, for example, between Georgia and Azerbaijan.
The ongoing territorial losses and the border situation have led to the most serious threats to the further development and even existence of Armenian statehood, causing deep concerns among various segments of society, including our faculty. Whereas it is necessary to neutralize these threats and the political position of the authorities that consistently ignore the opinion of the broad layers of society as well as out of a sense of responsibility before future generations, we, representatives of education and science, express our support to the movement launched by the Primate of the Tavush Diocese of the Armenian Apostolic Church, Archbishop Bagrat Galstanyan, and believe that Armenian Prime Minister Nikol Pashinyan should resign,” the statement of the YSU faculty reads.
