Over recent years, Armenian leadership has tended to spoil relations with Russia — Nikolay Silaev
Speaking with Alpha News, Senior Research Fellow at the Moscow State Institute of International Relations Nikolay Silaev commented on the crisis in Armenian-Russian relations and emphasized that the logic of the Armenian authorities’ actions has been unclear for many years.
“I believe the connection between the economies of Russia and Armenia is so important for Armenia that this connection must be protected, and it would be good if it had political guarantees. Apparently, the Armenian leadership does not think so, judging by what has been happening in recent years. The fact is that Russian-Armenian relations have not been very good lately.
Let’s just say, in recent years, the Armenian leadership has tended to spoil relations with Russia. I do not understand the logic behind the actions of the Armenian authorities for many years. For example, why was it decided that well-known and politically influential citizens of Russia are banned from entering Armenia? Such actions show that for some reason the Armenian leadership does not want to get along with compatriots who have influence in Russia,” Silaev said.
