Palm Sunday in Glendale
April 15 2025, 09:45
The Armenian Apostolic Church celebrated Palm Sunday the previous day, which marks the triumphal entry of Jesus Christ into Jerusalem. By the highest command of the Catholicos of All Armenians, “Tsakhkazard” was declared the Day of Blessing of Children.
On the morning of Palm Sunday, olive or willow branches are blessed in churches and distributed to people. The barren willow branches symbolize the pagans who only blossomed after believing in Christ, while the softness of the branches symbolizes the humility of His followers. The willow branches also symbolize our offerings to the Lord, akin to the gifts presented to Christ by the Magi from the East on Holy Christmas.
Palm Sunday was celebrated with great solemnity by our compatriots living in Glendale.
