The Armenian National Assembly did not pass a draft statement on ‘Armenian POWs held in Azerbaijan’ submitted by the opposition factions, Armenia and With Honor.
The two opposition factions of parliament convened on Tuesday an urgent debate, submitting the draft statement for adoption. The draft statement garnered only 30 votes from the opposition and failed to pass as the ruling Civil Contract faction refused to participate in the vote.
Deputy Speaker Ruben Rubinyan accused the opposition of using the topic for political goals.
The draft statement noted that the Armenian parliament should draw the attention of the international community to Armenian POWs held in Baku. It also emphasized that Azerbaijan should immediately release all Armenian prisoners.
