Pashinian’s visits to Europe lead to erosion of Armenia’s sovereignty — Stevan Gajić
Speaking with Alpha News, Stevan Gajić, a researcher at the Institute of European Studies, commented on Nikol Pashinyan’s recent visit to Brussels.
According to the expert, Russia’s weakening position in the South Caucasus region does not benefit Armenians.
“Armenia has become a vassal of Turkey. Pashinyan is doing what Vucic tried to do—breaking the spirit of the people, the spirit of resistance. This is especially expressed in his arrogance, which is manifested in the arrests of the church leadership, and this is already a blow to the sacred values of Armenians. We have seen this recently in Ukraine. Pashinyan struck at the identity associated with Armenian Christianity to absolutely break the spirit of the people. The fact that Russia has been nearly pushed out of the South Caucasus with only a military base remaining—whose future is uncertain—does not benefit Armenians. Macron will be engaged in finally cutting Armenia’s ties to Russia. Another connection they don’t need is Armenia’s connection with Iran,” Gajić said.
According to the expert, Pashinyan’s visits to Europe lead to the erosion of Armenia’s sovereignty.
“This visit is one of many such visits and meetings that lead to the de-sovereignization of Armenia and the dismantling of the Armenian nation. All the rhetoric that everything will be fine with the European Union sounds tragicomic. Because the EU is in complete chaos and is preparing for a hot war with Russia. These visits should be viewed with deep concern. And as long as Pashinyan remains in power, I doubt anything will change,” Gajić concluded.
