In the National Assembly, Armenian Prime Minister Nikol Pashinyan commented on a question from Arthur Khachatryan, an MP from the “Armenia” faction, regarding the prospects of railway communication with Azerbaijan.

Khachatryan asked when Armenia would be able to cross the border with Azerbaijan by train, rather than through the territory of Georgia, and also raised the issue of possible agreements between Baku and the United States.

In response, Pashinyan noted that today trains from Azerbaijan go through Georgia, since there is no direct railway between Armenia and Azerbaijan. At the same time, the Prime Minister emphasized that restoration is possible only after the construction of a new line, adding: “That very railway was destroyed and sold by your faction leader and political leader.”

By making this statement, Pashinyan effectively shifted responsibility for the lack of railway communication onto the opposition, using the accusation as a political tool.
