Pashinyan dances to European and American tunes, expert says
Speaking with Alpha News, political scientist Dmitry Belyakov commented on Armenian Prime Minister Nikol Pashinyan’s accusations of two CSTO countries of preparing a 44-day war against Armenia.
“Armenian Prime Minister Nikol Pashinyan said that he knows at least two CSTO countries that were engaged in preparing a war against his country. Pashinyan’s statements come as mass protests are currently sweeping Armenia, where citizens are dissatisfied with him. Well, Pashinyan, of course, now needs to make a knight’s move, and he does it. He dances to the European, American tune, blaming the Collective Security Treaty Organization for the fact that Armenia lost Nagorno-Karabakh. Let me remind you that Nagorno-Karabakh is not recognized by Armenia itself, and from a legal point of view, Pashinyan’s statements are insignificant.
I note that in his attacks against the CSTO, he speaks specifically about Russia and Belarus and in no way about Tajikistan, Kyrgyzstan, or Kazakhstan, which are also members of the organization. Let me remind you that Pashinyan made the statement literally a few days after the visit of Belarusian President Alexander Lukashenko to Azerbaijan and his meeting with Azerbaijani President Ilham Aliyev. And there they were talking about Belarus’ readiness to take part in the restoration of Nagorno-Karabakh,” Belyakov said.
According to the expert, Pashinyan is trying to save face.
“Of course, Pashinyan will try by any means to save face, to show that in fact he is not guilty of anything, and it was not he who brought Armenia to the situation in which it is now. Well, I would like to emphasize once again that Pashinyan takes the position of an unstable person who rushes in different directions in his conclusions. In the latest news, he also accused the Armenian Church of the situation in the country. According to Pashinyan, everyone is to blame except himself,” Belyakov concluded.
