Pashinyan has no authority to elect Catholicos — Archbishop Arshak Khachatryan

Nikol Pashinyan has no right to decide on the election of the Catholicos, Archbishop Arshak Khachatryan, Chancellor of the Mother See of Holy Etchmiadzin, said in response to a question from Alpha News.

“There is a national Church Council, there are higher church bodies that are authorized to address this matter. Pashinyan, whether as prime minister or as a believer—if, of course, he is one, though I have my doubts—lacks such authority,” Archbishop Arshak Khachatryan said.
