Pashinyan is using ‘divide and conquer’ approach – Robert Margaryan

Yesterday, Armenian Prime Minister Nikol Pashinyan hosted a group of bishops of the Armenian Apostolic Church at the government headquarters. Political scientist Robert Margaryan discussed this topic with Alpha News.

According to him, the destruction of national institutions has always been a priority on Nikol Pashinyan’s agenda.

“Ahead of elections, Pashinyan needs to destroy this institution, as he understands that his rating is falling, he does not enjoy popular support, and the Church is one of the centers on which he can try to build his rating,” Margaryan said.

According to the political scientist, Pashinyan has suffered a defeat: “Up to this point, I think he lost the battle, where popular support was the key factor. Instead, Pashinyan is employing tactics to destroy the Church from within—now bishops have joined the priests. Pashinyan is essentially using a ‘divide and conquer’ approach.”

He also stressed that the Church should not fight alone, and that the support of all the people is extremely important in this matter.
