Pashinyan spent all money on bonuses – citizens on growing external debt
One of the reasons for Armenia’s growing external debt is arms purchases. Months ago, Prime Minister Nikol Pashinyan stated this in the National Assembly while responding to accusations from the opposition.
“They tell us the external debt has reached 8 billion and ask what we did with that money. I didn’t want to say it, but I will: we bought weapons. Did we buy weapons with debt? Yes, we bought them with debt. Why? Because they were urgently and immediately needed,” Pashinyan said.
Reacting to this statement, Armenian citizens said: “Pashinyan has told so many lies, we don’t know which one to believe.”
Many are convinced that the entire sum was instead used by the Prime Minister to distribute bonuses to government members and cover his personal needs.
“Pensioners are given mere pennies, while they drive luxury cars and receive bonuses. With the 30,000 drams we get, they wouldn’t even be able to travel one bus stop or buy bread,” said one of the respondents.
