Speaking with Alpha News, Russian political scientist Alexey Anpilogov commented on what to expect from the meeting of Armenian Prime Minister Nikol Pashinyan and Azerbaijani President Ilham Aliyev with Donald Trump.

“Trump has a personal desire to be seen as a peacemaker. He’s delusional in thinking he deserves the peace prize. This is his personal conflict with Barack Obama, who received this prize. Trump believes he hasn’t been awarded it due to subjective reasons. His press secretary even claimed that he resolved nearly six conflicts within a six-month period. So I believe there is a personal factor, the desire to participate in such a way, as he believes, in the resolution of the conflict between Armenia and Azerbaijan, which has almost reached the peaceful stage,” Anpilogov said.

According to the expert, Erdogan pursues an independent policy, which Americans dislike.

“The United States has objective interests in the South Caucasus, but under the current proposed resolution of the conflict, its role would be significantly diminished. That is, Turkey will benefit the most. Erdogan is now pursuing an independent policy, which Americans, of course, dislike because it elevates his position among regional leaders and increases his global influence. That’s why the US is focused on two key aspects here. As for Pashinyan, his interest is to seek support from major powers because he understands that the US is his last chance,” Anpilogov concluded.
