Pashinyan will not make tough decisions on withdrawal of Russian base, military expert says
Military expert Vladislav Shurygin commented to Alpha News on the statement of Armenian Prime Minister Nikol Pashinyan about the Russian military base.
According to the expert, Pashinyan makes these statements in the hope that the West will read them and immediately help Armenia.
“Pashinyan now resembles a cunning child. But if the child’s antics look touching, for a grown man over 50, it is pathetic and ridiculous. It is obvious that he does not want to and is not trying to drive Russia out. He trades by making these statements in the hope that the West will read them and immediately give all sorts of goodies, help and support. He is selling an escape from Russia. Why? Because there is nothing else to sell. It is quite obvious that Armenia, in its current status, is of no importance to the West,” Shurygin noted.
According to the expert, Pashinyan’s statements should be treated with polite indifference.
“I treat Pashinyan’s statements calmly and, to some extent, with polite indifference. Because, firstly, as I already said, Pashinyan will definitely not make tough decisions about leaving. He understands that he will be left without any support at all.
Secondly, you need to understand that Pashinyan will not last forever. We, of course, understood that Pashinyan is still the choice of the Armenian people, and in this case, we are in no way encroaching on this will. But the issue could take some time, so we are unlikely to rush anywhere,” Shurygin concluded.
