Pashinyan’s policy amounts to denying loss of sovereignty – Andrey Perla
Speaking with Alpha News, political observer Andrey Perla commented on the reports that Armenian Prime Minister Nikol Pashinyan called for refraining from using the term “Zangezur corridor”.
“The story of the ‘Zangezur corridor’ is actually a story of deception. Pashinyan believes that if something is not called by its real name, it does not exist. He prefers to refer to the ‘Zangezur corridor’ as the ‘Crossroads of Peace,’ and says that it is not a corridor through Armenian territory but a vital trade route. However, in reality, Pashinyan agreed to a corridor through Armenia’s Syunik region, meaning a partial loss of sovereignty for the Armenian state over part of its territory,” Perla said.
According to the political observer, Pashinyan’s policy essentially amounts to a denial of this loss of sovereignty.
“The denial of this fact—that Pashinyan’s policies are leading to a partial loss of Armenia’s sovereignty—is the core of Pashinyan and his government’s policies today. However, he pretends not to understand this. He pretends his policy is multi-vector. And because it is supposedly multi-vector, he makes overtures to Russia, Iran, and various international partners. In this way, he obscures the completely obvious fact that he is acting exclusively in the interests of the United States and Turkey,” Perla concluded.
