Peaceful march honoring victims of Sumgait pogrom to be held in Tbilisi

At the initiative of the Armenian Community of Georgia and the Hayartun Educational and Cultural Center of the Armenian Diocese of Georgia, a peaceful march will be held in Tbilisi, honoring the innocent victims of the Sumgait pogrom, on February 25 at 10:45 a.m. The march will start from the adjacent area of St. Ejmiatsin Church in the Avlabari district to Saint George’s Church, where His Grace Bishop Kirakos Davtyan will serve a memorial service after the end of a Sunday liturgy.
 
At 14:00 p.m., the joint event titled “The impunity of the Sumgait pogrom gave birth to a new genocide” will take place at the Hayartun Educational and Cultural Center. Historian Yenok Tadevosyan will deliver a speech on the topic of the Sumgait pogrom. A discussion will take place following the screening of a movie.
