During his speech at the PACE plenary session, President of Cyprus Nikos Christodoulides touched upon the forced exodus of Armenians from Artsakh as a result of Azerbaijan’s military attack.
“We have witnessed yet another humanitarian crisis in Nagorno-Karabakh, affecting tens of thousands of people. This acute humanitarian crisis has turned into a mass exodus of the Armenian population from the region.
We must take all necessary measures to provide immediate humanitarian assistance and address the long-term problems of ethnic Armenians in Nagorno-Karabakh.
At the same time, Armenia’s growing and urgent needs from the events of last year’s September must receive a proper and adequate solution,” he said.
Christodoulides noted that Cyprus supports the EU-mediated peace process between Armenia and Azerbaijan, which will undoubtedly contribute to the long-term stability and development of the region.
