Azerbaijani authorities are destroying the spiritual and cultural heritage of Artsakh, while the Armenian authorities are silent, the Primate of the Artsakh Diocese of the Armenian Apostolic Church Vrtanes Abrahamyan said in an interview with “Aparaj”.

“Unfortunately, if the authorities do not give legal and political assessment to the destruction of the spiritual and cultural heritage of the people, the ordinary people can do nothing, the church cannot influence with all its might. This is state policy. The destruction is done by the authorities of Azerbaijan, and the authorities of Armenia are silent. It is painful. No matter how many times our NGOs knock at the doors of international bodies, these doors are closed and people’s ears are deaf. The Church reveals these painful events through its own channels, but they remain unanswered…

There is no one to stop this vandalism. It will continue until we realize that it kills not only our spirit but also our body. It is unfortunate that everyone not only does not talk about it but also accepts what Azerbaijan is doing. The authorities are passive,” the Primate of Artsakh Diocese said. According to him, everyone wants to hear the good news and live in Artsakh.

“We have not lost Artsakh. Artsakh exists and continues to exist, Artsakh has not fallen, it is we who have fallen, fallen to our knees physically, morally, spiritually… We should go back to our roots and see what our ancestors did, what process they started, and what we did not continue.

The holy book says, ‘I am the God of Hayk, Noah, and Gregory the Illuminator.’ Hayk Nahapet fought against evil, founded the country of Armenia, and turned it into a land of hope, Forefather Noah saved his family, Gregory the Illuminator had such a deep faith that God descended into the Ararat Valley. These three men epitomize the idea of family, homeland and faith,” he concluded.
