A number of important services have become more expensive — Alpha Economics

The consumer price index in Armenia continues to remain low. Despite the fact that, for example, the growth in the food group is negative compared to last year, life is not getting cheaper.
One of the reasons, perhaps, is primarily a comparison with periods during which (starting in 2020) there was a high inflationary environment. On the other hand, the study of the consumer price index reveals the fact that, although food prices have fallen (let’s remember that they have increased compared to previous high growth rates), important services such as healthcare, transport, and education have risen significantly, relatively by 2%, 9%, and 7.8%.
Speaking about transport, from January 1, 2025, it will become more expensive. According to the decision of the Yerevan City Council, tariff offers vary, while in each case prices increase significantly.
The increase in fares will have a chain effect on the prices of other goods and services, which indicates that the current low level of the consumer price index not only does not guarantee a more affordable life at the present time but may also increase in the future.
