Azerbaijanis are going to Armenia

On June 23, the Armenian Foreign Ministry expressed deep disappointment over the distorted and extremely one-sided language contained in the “Istanbul Declaration” adopted following the 51st session of the Council of Foreign Ministers of the Organization of Islamic Cooperation (OIC), held on June 21-22, 2025 in Turkey.
The Foreign Ministry emphasized to OIC member states that the use of the term “Western Azerbaijan,” presented under the guise of human rights, constitutes a direct territorial claim by Azerbaijan against the sovereign territory of the Republic of Armenia, which is confirmed even in the constituent documents of an artificially created “organization” for this purpose. It should be noted that official Tehran also voted “for” the adoption of the resolution. As for the content of the document pushed through by Baku, it refers to the “right of return of forcibly displaced Azerbaijanis” to Armenia, designated as “Western Azerbaijan.” Armenia is being urged to remove “obstacles” to signing a peace agreement. The document also contains a reference to Khojaly events—a narrative orchestrated by Azerbaijan.
There is nothing in the OIC resolution that Baku has not previously expressed. Moreover, when in May of this year Azerbaijan reiterated the need for the “return” of Azerbaijanis to Armenia, Speaker of the National Assembly of Armenia Alen Simonyan was encouraged by this statement and noted that Armenians will be able to live in Baku after signing a peace agreement with Azerbaijan, and Azerbaijanis will be able to “return to the villages where they once lived” on the territory of Armenia. Moreover, Simonyan went further and stated that just five minutes after the agreement’s signing, citizens of Armenia and Azerbaijan would begin trading with one another.
In this context, the Armenian Foreign Ministry should deal with the statements of Alen Simonyan before reacting to outside commentary. It is symbolic that the statement actually recognizing a part of Armenia as “Western Azerbaijan” was made just a few days after Nikol Pashinyan’s visit to Turkey. This should be a signal for the citizens of Armenia about Ankara’s real plans because Pashinyan has known all this for a long time.
We have already raised this issue before and will repeat it again: the complete reboot of Azerbaijan’s government in 2024 (with both presidential and parliamentary elections held) was necessary to unify the state around a new political program—the “West Azerbaijan” project. What we are witnessing now is its implementation. Nikol Pashinyan in Turkey said that his talks with Erdogan are a continuation of the process that began in Prague in October 2022. As a result of the Prague process, Armenia lost Artsakh. As a result of its continuation, Armenia may be wiped off the face of the earth.
And again, the question is: why doesn’t Pashinyan resist? The answer, as before, is obvious—the magnitude of his crimes against Armenia and the NKR is such that his own protection, including his freedom and assets, may only be ensured if the “plaintiff” (namely, the Republic of Armenia, which holds the institutional power to prosecute him) is destroyed.
Think about it…
