In which geopolitical camp is Nikol Pashinyan now?

March 07 2025, 11:30

As the classic said, “The world is changed. I feel it in the water. I feel it in the earth. I smell it in the air.”

In our case, the global geopolitical architecture is changing. The process did not begin yesterday, but back in the 2000s, but for a wider audience, the changes that were overdue became apparent after a heated exchange in the Oval Office between US President Donald Trump, Vice President Vance and Volodymyr Zelensky. The press supporting the Republican Party stated that after February 28 (the day of the skirmish), the world was divided into two camps: supporters of the continuation of the war and bloodshed in Ukraine and supporters of the cessation of hostilities.

In which camp, then, is Prime Minister Nikol Pashinyan? Is he for or against the continuation of the war?
Last week Pashinyan gave an interview to Iran’s state-run TV company (IRIB), in which he tried to convince his Iranian friends that a potential corridor through Armenia would not contradict the interests of official Tehran, stating that the Republic of Armenia would not participate in any actions against Iran.

And what about Russia? Can Pashinyan say that Armenia will not participate in any actions against Russia? This is not an idle question, as the day before, the “great friend of the Armenian people”, Emmanuel Macron made an appeal to the people in which he conceptually intimidated his citizens with the Russian threat, and also clearly demonstrated that Paris would do everything possible to ensure that the war in Ukraine would last “as long as it takes.”

It is obvious that by making such statements, Macron will discuss security guarantees for France with Washington, and his bellicose rhetoric is just a smokescreen.
But much of what happened before the Trump-Zelensky skirmish was a smokescreen. However, Pashinyan did not understand this at the time, and therefore there is no guarantee that he will be able to understand it now. The only question is that if Pashinyan chooses the wrong camp this time, then, unlike Zelensky, he may not be offered “amnesty to safely grow old in a neutral country.”

Elon Musk exists only for Zelensky, and for Pashinyan there may not be an Elon like that.

Think about it…
