Pashinyan supports Turkey, not Armenia – The People Speak

January 31 2026, 11:51

As part of “The People Speak” project, Alpha News conducted surveys in Yerevan and Armenian communities in the United States and Russia to learn citizens’ views on the most pressing issues.

When asked about Armenian-Turkish relations, one respondent remarked that it is enough to open the pages of Armenian history to find a clear answer.

According to another respondent, relations should be improved and people should live in peace, but history must not be forgotten. “This does not mean removing Mount Ararat from the national emblem or abandoning recognition of the Genocide.”

“I believe Pashinyan is simply corrupt. I don’t know, he seems to have forgotten everything. It feels like he now supports Turkey more than Armenia’s interests. The people must reflect on the seriousness of the situation—we need to change everything. This cannot continue; it is a disgrace, worse than anything,” said another respondent.

On the issue of Armenia’s security, respondents expressed concern, noting that the overall situation in the South Caucasus is tense.

“I speak about Armenia’s security not because I have lived in Russia for many years. I believe that all those who claim to guarantee our security are, in reality, very distant—both from the Armenian people and from Armenia itself. Therefore, we must still rely on our elder brother. It is the lesser of the evils and hardships that lie ahead,” said one respondent.
