Protest outside Yerevan City Hall

Citizens are holding a protest outside Yerevan City Hall. Protesters say that in the Nor Nork administrative district, the city authorities have decided to replace a children’s playground with 18-story residential buildings.

According to blogger Artur Chakhoyan, the Nor Nork district administration issued a negative opinion on the construction project during the most recent public hearing. “However, today the Yerevan City Council has placed the issue of granting a construction permit for the 18-story buildings on its agenda—at the expense of the only children’s playground. And this is despite the fact that the Council has already rejected the permit request three times,” he said.
