Protesters in Iran boo Armenian Ambassador

An incident between representatives of Tehran’s Armenian community and Armenian Ambassador to Iran Grigor Hakobyan took place in the morning of April 24, NEWS. am reports.

According to the source, during a morning ceremony at the memorial dedicated to the Armenian Genocide, members of the Armenian community met Armenian Ambassador to Iran Grigor Hakobyan with boos and chants of “Nikol is a traitor!” They also overturned the wreath he had laid.

The incident stemmed from the Armenian Embassy’s request to prohibit Abraham Gasparyan, the director of the Genesis Armenia think tank and foundation and a political scientist, from speaking or holding meetings in Tehran.

Gasparyan was in the Iranian capital to attend an event organized by the ARF’s Armenian National Committee office. Meetings with members of the Armenian community were also scheduled.
