Putin and Pashinyan hold phone conversation at Armenia’s initiative

Russian President Vladimir Putin and Armenian Prime Minister Nikol Pashinyan held a phone conversation at the initiative of the Armenian side, according to a statement released on the Kremlin’s official website.

“During the conversation, Pashinyan provided a detailed account of his meeting with US President Donald Trump and Azerbaijani President Ilham Aliyev in Washington on August 8. Vladimir Putin emphasized the importance of steps contributing to ensuring sustainable peace between Yerevan and Baku. He reaffirmed Russia’s readiness to support the comprehensive normalization of Armenian-Azerbaijani relations, including the unblocking of regional transport routes, in accordance with the trilateral agreements reached at the highest level between 2020 and 2022.

Putin, in turn, spoke about the main results of his conversation with US Special Envoy Stephen Whitkoff and the preparations for the meeting with Donald Trump in Alaska. The Armenian Prime Minister welcomed the steps aimed at the peaceful resolution of the Ukrainian crisis.
Some topical issues of the bilateral agenda were also touched upon,” the statement reads.
