Putin and Pezeshkian discuss developments in South Caucasus by phone

Russian President Vladimir Putin had a phone conversation with President of the Islamic Republic of Iran Masoud Pezeshkian, the Kremlin’s press office reports.

During the phone call, Vladimir Putin informed the President of Iran of the key outcomes of the Russia-US summit held in Anchorage. Pezeshkian expressed his support for the diplomatic efforts aimed at reaching a peaceful resolution to the Ukraine crisis.

The sides discussed a number of pressing bilateral matters, notably in the energy and transport sectors. The situation surrounding Iran’s nuclear program as well as the developments in the region of South Caucasus were addressed as well.
