Russian President Vladimir Putin said that he sees no problems that could prevent the conclusion of a peace treaty between Armenia and Azerbaijan.

“A peace treaty between Armenia and Azerbaijan is achievable. I do not see any problems,” he said.

He noted that Russian peacekeepers should formally stay in Artsakh until 2025, but the situation changed as Armenia recognized Artsakh as part of Azerbaijan.

“When Armenia recognized Karabakh as part of Azerbaijan, it turned out that our peacekeepers are definitely on the territory of Azerbaijan. And now, especially after these, frankly speaking, difficult events related to the exodus of the Armenian population, the situation has changed dramatically. Formally, our peacekeepers will remain there until 2025, and we will have to solve this issue with our partners. We will solve this during the negotiations,” he noted.

As reported earlier, Russia expressed its readiness to host talks between Azerbaijan and Armenia in Moscow to resolve the situation around Artsakh.

Dmitry Peskov, the press secretary of the Russian president, also stated that the issue of a peace agreement between Azerbaijan and Armenia remains relevant.
