On Alpha Newsroom, Russian political expert Rafael Ordukhanyan said that the only way out of the current situation is to form the Government of National Unity in Artsakh.

“Now Stepanakert does not need to in any way connect its future with Yerevan. I think it’s already a closed chapter. If we are talking about political strategies, then I see the only way out for Stepanakert to avoid the genocide and at least ethnic cleansing. They need to form a Government of National Unity as soon as possible and appeal to Russia with a request to be included in the Russian Federation, or at least in the Union State as an autonomous republic.

This is a very complicated process, which needs to be politically competently done. If the leadership of Nagorno-Karabakh finds the strength to form such an agenda, then I believe that the best way is to do it now. At least for a moment it will be possible to freeze the conflict and turn to Russia with a specific political proposal. One of the main problems, which I have repeatedly spoken about, is the uncertainty in the actions of the Armenian leadership, which eventually influenced a certain ambiguity in the actions of the Artsakh leadership.

Now the time has come, I repeat once again, when you need to decide for yourself where and with whom you want to move. This should have been done by Armenia, it made its choice – not in favor of Russia. Artsakh now needs to make a choice for itself, because the alternative to this indecision and ambiguity will be ethnic cleansing, the genocide and displacement of Armenians, as well as the populating of Artsakh by Azerbaijanis.

And as it has happened many times, this problem will be resolved, as in Nakhichevan or in other regions of Western Armenia. So, time is not on our side now and we need to take decisive actions. I sincerely wish the leadership of Artsakh to make wise decisions,” Ordukhanyan noted.
