Ratification of the Rome Statute is to the detriment of Armenia itself, Russian politician says
Member of the Federation Council Committee on International Affairs Sergei Tsekov commented to Alpha News on the decision of the Armenian National Assembly to ratify the Rome Statute of the International Criminal Court (ICC).
According to the Russian politician, ratification of the Statute has a negative impact on Armenia itself.
“The fact that the Armenians ratified this Rome Statute of the ICC is only to the detriment of Armenia. If anyone thinks that Armenia’s adoption of the Rome Statute of the ICC is to the detriment of Russia, I will say that it certainly worsens relations with Russia. But the fact that Armenia continues to harm itself with such decisions is clear and all the problems of Armenia, in my opinion, and not only in my opinion, come from the current Armenian authorities,” he said.
“The Armenian people are friendly people for us. It is the Armenian authorities that do foolish things. Their actions bring harm to their people,” Tsekov concluded.
