Yesterday, on August 6, the Red Cross visited Vagif Khachatryan (68) who was kidnapped by Azerbaijani forces on July 29. This was reported by Vagif Khachatryan’s daughter. She also revealed that he sent a note to them through the Red Cross that said:
“I’m fine, I am thinking of you, stay well, I will be back”.
On July 29, at the illegally located Azerbaijani checkpoint in the Berdzor Corridor, Azerbaijani Border Guards kidnapped Vagif Khachatryan, a 68-year-old patient transferred from Artsakh to Armenia for medical reasons with the help of the International Committee of the Red Cross.
Supreme Court of Azerbaijan announced that they “levelled a charge” back in 2013, then they decided to arrest him and “launched an international investigation” that same year. Arrested Khachatryan is charged with “genocide and displacement of Azerbaijanis”. For several days, demonstrations demanding the release of Vagif Khachatryan have been taking place in Armenia.
