Why is Iran targeting the global market and what is expected in the United States? Political scientist Hayk Ter-Nersisyan analyzed the topic on Alpha News.

According to him, military theory suggests that a weaker state does not win through battle, but by raising the cost of war so high that it becomes unbearable for the stronger side.

“Iran is currently applying exactly this model: striking regional points, which directly drives up oil prices and impacts the global economy. The closure of the Strait of Hormuz and disruption of oil imports hit China, India, and Korea—thereby increasing the ‘cost’ of war for the US and Israel,” the political scientist said.

He noted that regime change cannot be achieved through airstrikes alone; ground forces are necessary. “This raises the question: how prepared is the US to pay that price?” Ter-Nersisyan remarked.

The political scientist also said that there is a split within Trump’s voter base. “There is a division within Donald Trump’s electoral base, as people are questioning whether this truly serves their interests.”
