The only way for Artsakh Armenians to have rights and security is the recognition of the independent statehood of Artsakh by the whole world, first of all, by Azerbaijan, Robert Avetisyan, Permanent Representative of the Republic of Artsakh to the United States, told Alpha News.
“The statements of the authorities that Artsakh is part of Azerbaijan complicate our struggle. The only way for Artsakh Armenians to have rights and security is the recognition of the independent statehood of Artsakh by the whole world, first of all, by Azerbaijan.
Artsakh Armenians should have guaranteed rights, as well as honest, proud, and peaceful living conditions. Their fundamental human rights should be protected,” Avetisyan said.
According to him, despite everything, a full-fledged political life in Artsakh continues.
“If you have noticed, there is a tradition of inner peace, inner solidarity in Artsakh, and I am glad and confident that we will do everything to ensure that statehood and this stability continue. People have pinned their hopes on other governments for 9 months. No one imagined that the situation would continue like this and the world would not be able to pressure Azerbaijan to stop this anti-Armenian policy,” he noted.
Avetisyan finds it difficult to talk about the results of the rallies organized in the Armenian communities of the USA, since they have not reached their goals yet.
“Artsakh is still under blockade. Aliyev continues to get away with his crimes. At the same time, it is important that such rallies continue and this pressure reach the point when we will be able to break through and stop this inhuman blockade, return Artsakh to normal life and allow us to live, create, and develop in normal human conditions.
We call for the continuation of any type of efforts and initiatives that allow us to talk about Artsakh, to keep Artsakh in the center of attention and send very serious signals to both local self-government bodies and the federal government that Armenians, especially American Armenians, will not stop their efforts until the issue is resolved and our security is guaranteed,” Robert Avetisyan said.
According to him, the US government very often calls on Azerbaijan to end the blockade and stop this anti-Armenian policy aimed at everything that is Armenian. Avetisyan expressed his gratitude to those people who still continue their struggle.
