Rosatom launches inspection of ANPP radioactive waste storage facility

Rosatom has started inspection of the radioactive waste storage facility of the Armenian NPP in Metsamor. The work is carried out as part of preparations for the extension of the life of the plant’s power unit No. 2, TASS reports.

The inspection is conducted by specialists of Rosatom Service JSC and Pilot and Demonstration Center for Decommissioning of Uranium-Graphite Nuclear Reactors “PDC UGR” JSC.

The work is performed to assess the possibility of safe and reliable radioactive waste storage at the Armenian NPP as the plant’s life was extended until 2036.
