From February 21 to 28, popular singer Ruben Sasunci is touring in Russia with a concert program.
The Armenian audience from Moscow, St. Petersburg, Lipetsk, Ramensk, Ryazan and Novorossiysk greeted the singer with warmth and nostalgia. The goal of the concert tour is to spread the national song, especially in the Diaspora.
Ruben Sasunci visited the Moscow studio of Alpha News and spoke about the importance of the national song, the attitude of the new generation towards it, as well as the ties between Armenia and the Diaspora. The singer also spoke about concerts and plans for the future.
“The national song is not my property, it belongs to all our people. It is very important that we love and appreciate our national songs and dances, our tricolor and coat of arms. And of course, we must remember that we are Armenians. It is a great joy for me when I see my audience dancing at my concerts, especially children who sing our national songs along with me. I am thankful for being able to present the national song to Armenians scattered all over the world,” Ruben Sasunci told Alpha News.
He also added that interest in national songs and dances has grown significantly in recent years.
“To my great joy, the times are already coming when the new generation is interested in our national songs and dances. What they feel is very important, and when our national song sounds, they grab each other’s hands and start dancing our national dances. If we compare the situation now with what it was several years ago, today the love for national songs and dances is felt even more. We feel it at our concerts,” Ruben Sasunci said.
