Russia and Iran FMs discuss situation in South Caucasus

During the phone talk on Tuesday, Iranian Foreign Minister Hossein Amir-Abdollahian and his Russian counterpart Sergey Lavrov discussed the developments in the South Caucasus, the latest state of cooperation and bilateral relations, as well as regional and international issues, IRNA reported.

Referring to the current developments in the Caucasus region, Amir-Abdollahian welcomed the process of negotiations between Azerbaijan and Armenia to reach a lasting peace agreement and emphasized Iran’s support for peace and stability in the region.

The Russian Foreign Minister congratulated Iran for signing a free trade agreement with the Eurasian Economic Union, calling it a very important step in the development of economic relations between Iran, Russia, and the member countries of this union.
